For property owners, facility teams and managers, that matters for a simple reason. Most electrical problems do not begin with sparks and smoke. They begin with heat. What an infrared electrical inspection actually does

If a fault is hidden behind a cover or inside a component where surface temperature stays normal, it may not appear at all.
It also takes judgement to separate normal operating heat from a genuine concern. Some components naturally run warmer than others. What matters is whether the heat pattern is expected for that equipment in those conditions. That is why qualifications, experience and careful reporting matter as much as the camera itself.
Timing matters more than most people realise
The best time to arrange an inspection is usually before there is a known failure. For commercial and industrial sites, that may mean making it part of planned maintenance, annual checks or seasonal readiness work. For managed properties, it can make sense before peak heating or cooling periods, when electrical demand tends to rise.
For homes and small businesses, timing is often tied to warning signs or system age. If the panel is older, the building has had repeated electrical issues, or major loads such as EV chargers, air conditioning or new equipment have been added, an inspection can provide useful information before a minor issue becomes a larger repair.
After storm activity, flooding, service upgrades or tenant fit-outs, it may also be sensible. Electrical systems do not always fail immediately after a change. Sometimes the warning sign appears later, once the system has been under load for a while.
